Our story is one of passion, precision, and the relentless pursuit of flavour. It begins with our chef and namesake, Thomas Carr, who brings a legacy of excellence to the Yorkshire Coast. For seven consecutive years, from 2016 to 2022, Thomas held a prestigious Michelin star at his acclaimed restaurants in North Devon.
In 2023, driven by a desire for a new challenge and inspired by the bountiful North Sea, Thomas relocated to Scarborough to open his new restaurant.
Thomas Carr at the Coast is a personal and intimate venture, run by Thomas in the kitchen and his co-owner, Ewelina Jamróz, who graciously hosts our guests front-of-house. Together, they create a welcoming, modern, and relaxed atmosphere where the food is the star.
Our philosophy is simple: we are defined by the coast. We design modern, creative menus that showcase the very best local and regional produce, with a strong focus on the fresh fish and seafood caught daily along the Yorkshire Coast.
Thomas’s cooking is a blend of imagination and finesse, with well-honed techniques designed to tempt the most discerning palate. Our set menus are a true celebration of the day's catch, changing constantly to reflect the seasons and what our local suppliers provide.
We were immensely proud to be recognised for our efforts and featured in the 2025 Michelin Guide.
